Down to the city of popes we made our way,
Thirty-seven degrees, for a warm feast that day,
This lovely gateway left us quite amazed,
Back home in Normandy, few olive trees are raised,
We can not stayed for a while, just long enough to spare,
To watch our dear friends wed, a joy we came to share,
Once the wedding ended, it was time to part,
Our heads full of memories, held close to the heart,
Our legs, as well, came back a little marked,
Mosquitoes, it seems, among the guests had lurked.
